Classes and studio philosophy:

FLEX TIME:

To meet the problem of today's tight schedules both at work and at home, Village Pottery operates it's clay programs on Flex Time. The wheel throwing classes, and the Hand building Classes including the children's programs are based on the students purchasing a set "bank of time" for their selected class or classes. Whenever the student attends the chosen time or times, they will be marked in on arrival and marked out upon their departure. The time spent will then be deducted from their time bank. When the time bank is used up, to continue, the student just purchases another "bank of time". Hourly rates are also available.

All programs have no ending nor a beginning. The courses just continue throughout the year. This allows each student to be instructed one-on-one, with the most recent students getting more intense help, and the more advanced students are instructed as they ask. This allows each student to progress at their own speed. This also allows each class to be a mixed class of new and more advanced students. There is a lot of cross learning and class support for all.

New students can join any class at any time there is room. As attendance is taken during class, the time is flexible. The student can arrive at their most convenient time during each class period and leave  when they require. They are only charged for the hours they attend. Thus, missed classes do not mean lost time. Purchased time is honoured for 6 months after purchase. Given that there is room, classes may be changed at any time.

Many of our students have been attending the studio for many years. 

Artists/artisans have their own way of working, and the studio encourages this.  Each student is individually taught, and can progress to the stage where they are happier working on their own but being able to be helped when needed.

Children are encouraged to use their imagination to explore their creativity to the fullest extent – within the confines of a class room but without the dictates of a pre-selected lesson.

Our philosophy promotes a stress-free environment where students should be able to have fun and enjoy what learning and doing without fear of frustration.
