GENERAL CLAY
PROGRAMS
ADULT WHEEL THROWING PROGRAM:
with Les Olson.
Based on a time bank of 28 hours of class time.THIS IS A
FLEX
-TIME PROGRAM*
*Students are only charged for their actual attendance time at the
studio. Class times can be
adjusted to fit the students schedule including missed classes. All
students work at their own pace and independently under the mentoring of
the instructor.
Minimum age is 15 years, but younger students with a mature attitude and
a sincere dedication to explore the art form, may be accepted.
The wheel throwing program is based on the use of the potter’s wheel
with a basic exposure to hand building applications. Beginning students
will learn the basics of throwing pots on the wheel, then trimming and
glazing the work during the first 28 hours. Students may continue
exploring the clay media with additional blocks of time.
Students are instructed on a one on one basis.
Advanced students (and potters) are welcome to join our program and work
independently.

Mornings: Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday mornings,
9:00 am to 1:00 pm
Evenings:
Monday through Thursday Evenings
7:00 pm to 10:30 pm
SATURDAYS:
9:00 am to 1:00 pm
and
2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
CHILDREN’S CLAY HANDBUILDING PROGRAM: with Joanne Olson
Based on
a time bank of 24 hours of class time. THIS IS A
FLEX
TIME PROGRAM*
This program teaches the basic method of working with clay without the
use of a potter’s wheel. It includes coiling, pinching, the use of a
clay extruder, slab roller and various slab molds.
Instruction is given on various finishing and decorating
techniques such as underglaze painting and glazing.
Parents may join their children in the same class as an adult student.

CLAY SCULPTURE PROGRAM: With Ms. Young Lan Choi
Based on
12 hours of class time. THIS
IS A
FLEX
TIME PROGRAM*
This program gives instruction on forming abstract or figurative
sculptural forms from clay. The instruction is one on one, and after an
initial basic instruction and a preliminarypiece, the student may choose
their own projects. Various clays and finishing techniques are explored.
